Henderson's SRI Team

Henderson’s SRI department consists of a seven strong team of fund managers and research analysts.

The team’s size is typical of Henderson’s investment teams, which tend to be specialist groups where ideas can be communicated swiftly and efficiently and strong working relationships can flourish. At the same time, the investment teams benefit from Henderson’s strong infrastructure and broader capabilities, drawing on a range of sources for its analysis.

George Latham 

George Latham - Head of SRI Funds

Profile

George heads is Head of Sustainable and Responsible Investments (SRI) at Henderson Global Investors. He oversees a team of seven and is fund manager of the Henderson Global Care Managed Fund and the Henderson Global Care UK Income Fund, along with one of our segregated SRI funds. George joined the Henderson in 2001, and has focused on Sustainable and Responsible Investments ever since. He is a member of Henderson’s Responsible Investment Committee.  george was previously at Threadneedle Asset Management.  There he was a UK and European investment analyst and fund manager and also set up Threadneedle's approach to SRI.

Having left Oxford University with a BA (Hons) in Geography, George was commissioned into the army from Sandhurst in 1993. He served as an infantry officer in Germany, Bosnia, Canada and Northern Ireland before leaving the army to join Threadneedle Asset Management in 1996. He is an Associate of the Institute of Investment Management and Research and holds qualifications from the UK Society of Investment Professionals.

 

Tim Dieppe 

Tim Dieppe - Director, SRI Funds

Profile

Tim is the fund manager for our range of global funds employing the Industries of the Future strategy, a multi-thematic approach investing in companies that provide solutions to the environmental and social challenges facing the world today. Tim joined the SRI team in 2004 when he took over management of the global funds and set up the pioneering Industries of the Future approach. Tim manages the Industries of the Future and Global Care Growth Funds with the support of Samantha and Alice.  Citywire awarded Tim an 'A' rating in 2008 and listed him as one of the top 100 managers in Britain for his performance in 2007.

Tim graduated from St Edmund Hall, Oxford with a BA (Hons) in Mathematics and Computation. He joined AMP Asset Management (later to become Henderson Global Investors) in 1992 and worked on several teams prior to joining the SRI team. Tim is an Associate of the Institute of Investment Management and Research and holds qualifications from the UK Society of Investment Professionals.

 

Samantha Cotterell 

Samantha Cotterell - Associate Director, SRI Funds

Profile

Samantha works closely alongside with Tim and Alice on the range of global funds employing the Industries of the Future strategy. Her role and responsibilities include seeking out investment opportunities arising from the Industries of the Future themes.  Samantha has been at Henderson since 2001. Before joining the SRI team during 2008, Samantha had previously been a Pan-European Fund Manager in other Henderson teams. She has also had experience as a sector analyst in a variety of sectors including media, retail and food producers.

Prior to coming to Henderson, Samantha was at Schroder Investment Management where she was a European analyst for the EAFE team and then the European Smaller Companies team.  She has an MPhys from Oxford University and holds qualifications from the UK Society of Investment Professionals. She is an Associate of the Institute of Investment Management and Research.

 
Alice Evans

Alice Evans - Fund Manager, SRI Funds 

Profile

Alice works closely with Tim and Samantha on the range of global funds employing the Industries of the Future investment strategy. Her main responsibilities include generating investment ideas, researching opportunities and making investment recommendations with a particular focus on the Health theme.   Alice joined Henderson in 2005 and was previously responsible for the analysis of the pan-European pharmaceutical & healthcare sector and worked closely with George Latham on the UK SRI funds.

Prior to joining Henderson Alice worked for 3 years as an Assistant Portfolio Manager at JP Morgan Asset Management covering European equities. Alice gained an MSci in Physics from the University of Bristol in 2000 and has achieved the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification.

Seb Beloe 

Seb Beloe – Head of SRI Research

Profile

Seb joined Henderson in 2008, as Head of SRI research. He leads on the identification and analysis of critical sustainability and responsibility issues with investment relevance for the SRI funds. In addition, Seb guides and oversees the research team's communication and engagement with companies, the investment community, government and civil society to promote understanding of sustainability, corporate responsibility and SRI matters.  He has served on numerous corporate advisory boards and award panels and is currently a member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants' (ACCA)Environmental and Social Committee.

Seb has expertise in helping businesses develop strategic responses and practical solutions to social and environmental issues and has a background in environmental technology and environmental science.  He spent nine years at SustainAbility working in London and New York where he had responsibility for the direction and content of research and advocacy activities. Seb is a Chartered Environmentalist, has an MSc DIC from Imperial College in Environmental Technology and an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science from the University of East Anglia.  Seb attained the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) in May 2008.

My-Linh Ngo 

My-Linh Ngo - Associate Director, SRI Research

Profile

My-Linh works with Seb and Hyewon within the SRI research function. She also has responsibility for the team's communication activities. My-Linh specialises on sustainability analysis and engagement within the retail and healthcare sectors, as well as the Environmental Services, Health, and Quality of Life themes, which are part of Henderson's Industries of the Future investment strategy. She is a member of the Environmental, Health & Safety stakeholder panel at GlaxoSmithKline, the Access to Medicines Index Foundation's Expert Review Committee, and is a non-executive board director of UKSIF. Previous committee roles include being a member of the UKSIF Research & Analyst Services Advisory Group and Reuter's Corporate Responsibility Advisory Committee.   

My-Linh joined the SRI team in 2000 having completed an MProf. Leadership for Sustainable Development, a programme managed by Forum for the Future. Her first Masters was in Environmental Impact Assessment, Auditing & Environmental Management Systems. My-Linh also has a BSc (Hons) degree in Environmental Science. She has attained her Investment Management Certificate (IMC).

 

Hyewon Kong 

Hyewon Kong - Analyst 

Profile

Hyewon works closely with Seb and My-Linh as part of the SRI research team. Hyewon leads on sustainability analysis and engagement within the financial, construction and media sector, as well as companies that fall under Henderson's Industries of the Future investment themes which include Knowledge, Social Property & Finance, Sustainable Transport and Water Management. She also provides investment support for the team. She has sat on the assessment panel for the Environmental Leadership Award, an initiative of Business in the Community (BITC).

Prior to joining Henderson in 2007, Hyewon worked in a similar SRI analyst role at Jupiter Asset Management.  Hyewon holds an MSc in Nature, Society and Environmental Policy from Oxford University, as well as a B.A. in Russian Studies and English Studies from Korea. She attained the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) in May 2008.
