Andrew Formica, Chief Executive

Biography

Andrew Formica has been in the fund management industry since 1993. He has held various senior roles with the Henderson Group in the past 12 years and he has been a member of the Executive Committee since 2004. Prior to being appointed Chief Executive of the Company, he was Joint Managing Director of the Listed Assets business (from September 2006) and was Head of Equities (since September 2004). In the early part of his career, he was an equity manager and analyst for the Henderson Group.

Shirley Garrood, Chief Financial Officer

Biography

Shirley Garrood has been Chief Financial Officer since September 2009. She is a chartered accountant and corporate treasurer and has worked in the City for over 30 years. She joined the Henderson Group in 2001 and has been a member of the Executive Committee since 2002, formerly as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to this, she was Chief Operating Officer at Morley Fund Management (Aviva) and trained as an accountant with KPMG.

Lesley Cairney, Chief Operating Officer

Biography

Lesley Cairney joined Henderson in 2002.  She has been Chief Operating Officer since 2011 and joined the Executive Committee in January 2013. She is responsible for operations and IT globally. She has over 20 years’ experience in financial services and has held various roles within Henderson in the past 11 years, including leading the integrations of both New Star and Gartmore in 2009 and 2011 respectively.

James Darkins, Managing Director, Global Property

Biography

James Darkins joined AMP in 1998, before AMP’s acquisition of Henderson Group, as Head of Property in New Zealand. He was subsequently appointed Head of Property for Asia based in Sydney, before taking up his current role in London in 2001 and has been a member of the Executive Committee since that date. Over the course of his career, he has worked in a number of property and building related companies in the UK and New Zealand, including 18 years in the property investment and development industry.

Jacqui Irvine, General Counsel

Biography

Jacqui Irvine joined Henderson in 1996.  Prior to her appointment as General Counsel in June 2011, Jacqui was Director of Legal (from April 2009).  She has advised Henderson across all asset classes, as well as playing a leading role in more recent corporate projects, including the acquisition of the Gartmore.   Jacqui was appointed Company Secretary of Henderson Group in December 2012 and joined the Executive Committee in January 2013. Jacqui is responsible for the global legal and company secretarial functions.

Jim Irvine, Head of Fixed Income

Biography

Jim Irvine joined Henderson in March 2006 as Head of Structured Products.  He was appointed Head of Fixed Income in February 2012 and  joined the Executive Committee in January 2013. As Head of Fixed Income, he is responsible for all aspects of the Group’s global fixed income investment activities. Jim previously spent 20 years in banking and immediately prior to joining Henderson Group, was Head of Structured Investment Group at JP Morgan. He previously held senior investment roles at Bank One N.A. and Halifax plc (HBOS).

Graham Kitchen, Head of Equities

Biography

Graham Kitchen joined Henderson in 2005.  He is the Head of Equities and joined the Executive Committee in January 2013. Prior to this, he was Head of UK Equities at Henderson and Threadneedle Investments following thirteen years at INVESCO Asset Management as a UK Fund Manager and Co-Head of Investment.

Andrew Steward, Chief Risk Officer

Biography 

Andrew Steward joined Henderson in October 2010 as Chief Risk Officer and is a member of the Executive Committee. After qualifying as a chartered accountant with KPMG Andrew worked in their Specialist Banking Unit for a couple of years prior to joining Manufacturers Hanover Trust. Here, over a 10 year period, he was Head of Global Derivative Support based in New York and then Chief Financial Officer for the UK and European businesses of MHT and Chemical Bank. He spent two years at NatWest Markets and Credit Suisse First Boston followed by 10 years at Fidelity International where he was CFO, CFO of COLT Telecom (majority owned by Fidelity), COO and then Chief Administrative Officer for both the European distribution and global investment management areas.

Phil Wagstaff, Global Head of Distribution

Biography

Phil Wagstaff has over 25 years’ asset management experience. He joined Henderson in January 2012 as Global Head of Distribution and is a member of the Executive Committee.  He is responsible for all distribution businesses including retail, institutional and hedge funds. Prior to joining Henderson Group, Phil was Global Head of Distribution at Gartmore which was acquired by Henderson Group in 2011. He previously held senior distribution roles at New Star Asset Management and M&G Investments.
